Winter has been uneventful at MarionCC. After such a busy 12-14 months it's time to take stock and catch our breath. Bella and Irene have made it through the early challenges of learning the ropes at MarionCC and they are gradually getting to know a few of you as it becomes easier to manage the clinic. Both Tracey and Lydia will be continuing their ongoing education with workshops and seminars during winter as it's easier to be inside on cold weekends. The Australian Chiropractic Association is holding their annual conference in Adelaide for the first time in many years so it's an opportunity to learn and catch up with colleagues without having to travel. It's set to be the biggest annual conference for many years so it's something to look forward to!
We all know how important sleep is for our health. Tracey and Steve experienced interesting sleep protocols around their African travels. Using an app called Timeshifter they manipulated their body clocks to adjust their circadian rhythm for the 7.5 hour time difference. By acclimatising themselves to bright lights and darkness at unusual times of the day their bodies adjusted to the time difference very well! They experienced very little jetlag in both directions by following some simple changes both prior to leaving and again just before heading home. It was great to hit the ground running in both directions of travel.
Our sleep quality is reliant on our sleep hygiene and this exercise reinforced the importance of light and darkness and avoidance of blue and bright light when you're winding down at bedtime. It's important as well upon waking that we expose ourselves to bright light in the morning to wake our bodies up. Having regular sleep times is also important if you're looking for consistent sleep patterns. Get some rest so you can enjoy life more!
Two staff Birthdays - Happy Birthday to Bella and Irene !!
